Hollow Triumph: A medical school drop out and crook plans a holdup that goes wrong. He ends up being chased by a gangster and takes on a new identity thinking it is the solution, but of course it is not what he expects. This psycho- logical thriller is pure vintage Film Noir. When med school dropout-turned-master criminal John Muller (Paul Henreid) puts together a major casino heist, not everything goes as planned. The cops don’t know he was behind it but, unfortunately, a vindictive gangland casino owner (Tomas Brown Henry) figures it out. In order to “disappear”, Muller assumes the identity of psychiatrist Dr. Bartok (Henreid plays both roles), requiring him to scar his face to match Bartok’s, resulting in unforeseen consequences. Co-starring Joan Bennet and directed by Steve Sekely, this film was also released under the title Hollow Triumph.
